SISSETON, S.D. (KWAT)–A man wanted by authorities in Roberts County is in the hospital after being injured during a police pursuit Wednesday night.
Roberts County Sheriff Tyler Appel says around 9 p.m., deputies with the sheriff’s office, in coordination with Sisseton police and Sisseton-Wahpeton tribal police, attempted to take Jordan Biddell Junior into custody on active warrants related to Aggravated Assault and First Degree Robbery.
Biddell was in a parked vehicle when officers approached him. At that point, Biddell fled, nearly striking one officer in the process.
A pursuit was initiated, continuing east through the city of Sisseton. Appel says during the chase, Biddell lost control of the vehicle and went into the ditch. Biddell was not wearing a seat belt, and was ejected from the wreckage.
Officers immediately rendered first aid until emergency medical personnel arrived. Appel says the extent of Biddell’s injuries are unknown, however, “his condition is believed to be critical and not fatal.”
Biddell was wanted after leading authorities on a separate, high-speed chase earlier this month.
Appel says Biddell entered a convenience store on June 4th, attempted to buy alcohol, and then produced a black revolver-style BB gun, pointed it at the store clerk, and demanded money.
