Keith Allen Stobbs, 80, of Sioux Falls and a longtime resident of Miller, passed away on Monday, May 25, 2026, surrounded by his family.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 8, 2026, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Miller, with Rev. Rhonda Wellsandt-Zell officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at G.A.R. Cemetery, Miller. Visitation will be 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., Sunday, June 7, 2026, followed by a 4:00 p.m. prayer service, all at the church.
Keith was born April 29, 1946, in Miller, South Dakota, to Edward and Dorothy (Ravenscroft) Stobbs. He grew up on the family acreage and graduated from Miller High School with the Class of 1964.
When his father became ill in 1964, Keith stepped up without hesitation, taking over the family’s car business. In 1965, he joined the Miller National Guard Unit and trained at Fort Leonard Wood and Fort Sill, proudly serving in the Guard for six years.
Keith was deeply committed to serving his community. He was a lifelong member of The Miller American Legion, serving as both Commander and Adjutant. He was also a charter member of the Miller Jaycees and dedicated 28 years to the Miller Fire Department, including 18 years as Fire Chief. Professionally, Keith was active in the South Dakota Auto Dealers Association and served on its Board of Directors.
On July 19, 1970, Keith married Carol (Macer). They were blessed with two daughters, Kelle and Kaylene, who were the pride of his life. In 2014, Keith and Carol built a home in Sioux Falls and began a well-earned semi-retirement while spending winters in Arizona.
Keith loved the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing and camping and had a close circle of fishing buddies who treasured his company. At home, he liked to unwind with Barrett-Jackson auctions, HGTV, or game shows. More than anything, Keith’s favorite pastime was watching his grandchildren play soccer, baseball, and football games, or any activity they were involved in.
Grateful for his life are his wife of 55 years, Carol; daughters: Kelle (Gaylen) Hansen and Kaylene (Bryan) Ingalls, both of Sioux Falls; grandchildren: Miah (Nathan) Moon, Chloe Hansen and Braylon Bear, and Hayden Ingalls (Emily Carter), Madison, and Dawson Ingalls; brothers: Gene Stobbs and Larry (Paula) Stobbs; sister-in-law, Jennifer (Jim) Aalbers; brothers-in-law, Rodger (Deb) Macer and Kendall (Renee) Macer; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Dorothy Stobbs; his in-laws, Alvah and Mildred Macer; and sisters-in-law, Janice Macer and Kathy Stobbs.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to The Miller American Legion, Miller Fire Department, or Hand County Hands of Hope.
Keith will be remembered for his work ethic and generous service. His legacy lives on in the family he raised and the community he helped shape.
Reck Funeral Home of Miller has been entrusted with Keith’s arrangements.
