AMES, I.A.(WNAX)- Climate watchers expect the ongoing La Nina to fade sometime next spring. A La Nina is a climate driver generated by cooler than normal Pacific Ocean surface temperatures.
Iowa State Climatologist Justin Glisan moderated this months north central region climate update and says this is the third year of the ongoing La Nina.
Glisan says any transition away from a La Nina will be gradual.
Glisan says the La Nina will continue to have an impact on this winters weather.
He says the expected cold blast next week is a pattern expected during a La Nina influenced winter.
