AMES, I.A.(WNAX)- One of the major climate drivers in North America should fade as summer approaches.
Dennis Todey, head of the Midwest Climate Hub in Ames Iowa, says it looks like “La Nina” is starting to fade away.
The “La Nina” occurs when Pacific Ocean surface temperature cool, which has an impact on weather across North America.
Todey, hosting the monthly North Central climate update, says “La Nina” may make a reappearance later this year.
Todey says some of the effects may linger.
Todey says they still expect the long-term trend to favor warmer and drier conditions across the region through summer.
