ILLINOIS(WNAX)- The ongoing La Nina will have an influence on northern plains weather into the summer.
Illinois State Climatologist Trent Ford moderated the monthly north central region climate update and says the outlooks into summer show the La Nina signal.
Ford says back to back La Nina’s is pretty unusual.
Ford says that leads to a high potential of warmer and drier conditions into summer.
A La Nina occurs when Pacific Ocean Sea surface temperatures drop below normal, which has an impact on North American weather.
