Latest snowfall leads to higher risk of potential flooding

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.(WNAX)- The chances of flooding in eastern South Dakota are rising.

Phil Schumacher at the National Weather Service in Sioux Falls says this follows the latest round of heavy snow.

Schumacher says there is a lot of water in the snow pack.

With temperatures forecast to rise into the seventies and possibly eighties over the next few days, Schumacher says a fast melt would add to the problems.

Schumacher says lowland flooding is possible along the James and Vermillion Rivers, which may effect some township roads and bridges.
