PIERRE, S.D.(WNAX)- A new three digit dialing code, 988, will launch Saturday in South Dakota, connecting those experiencing mental health distress with accessible care and support.
Department of Social Services Secretary Laurie Gill says calls will be routed to the Helpline Center.
Gill says that help is available anytime someone needs it.
Gill says suicide prevention is a priority.
The call center and 988 number are funded with a combination of federal, state and local dollars.
