Lawmakers attempted to pass bills that provide immediate help

YANKTON, S.D. (WNAX) – South Dakota legislators took over 15 hours to work through the last day of the 2020 session this week.

Representative Ryan Cwach of Yankton says they tried to pass bills that would provide some immediate help.

Cwach says they approved a small business loan fund.

A bill that would have expanded emergency powers for counties failed. Cwach says that would have closed a missing link.

Governor Kristi Noem has said she will call legislators back to Pierre in June for a special session to make budget adjustments.
