PIERRE, S.D.(WNAX)- South Dakota lawmakers are taking a long weekend off before they return to Pierre on Monday for the only five day week of the session.
House Majority Leader Will Mortenson of Pierre says they continue to hear about one critical issue.
Mortenson says the state has to attract more people.
Mortenson says the housing bill that passed quickly through the legislature is a major step in finding homes for more workers.
Senate Minority Leader Reynold Nesiba of Sioux Falls says democrats focused on a few issues this week.
Legislators approved a bill that would cut unemployment fees to state businesses by eighteen million dollars. Nesiba says democrats opposed that change.
Nesiba says they also want to finish the redistricting work that is still outstanding.
Next week includes the deadline for bill introductions by individuals and committees.
