VERMILLION, S.D.(WNAX)- Many counties across the state are struggling with rising jail costs, either their own, or paying to house prisoners in another county.

Senator Art Rusch of Vermillion says that will be one of the topics of a legislative summer study this year.

Rusch says they heard from a number of counties during the session this year.

Rusch says it’s a growing problem.

The legislatures Executive Board will meet later this spring to appoint members to the summer study committees.
