PIERRE, S.D.(WNAX)- As action on the floor of the South Dakota legislature winds down, committee discussion has turned to possible summer studies.
Senator Randy Deibert of Spearfish brought an idea to study county government finances to the Senate Local Government Committee.
Deibert used his home of Lawrence County as an example of services that are not compensated.
Senator Jim Mehlhaff of Pierre said counties need help.
The last study of county finances was done in 2015.
The Committee will make their recommendation to the Executive Board that will decide on how many studies to schedule.
