Legislators look ahead to the final 2 weeks of regular sessions

PIERRE, S.D.(KCCR & WNAX)- Nine days remain in the 97th Session of the South Dakota legislature.  District 24 Senator Mary Duvall says much of the last eight days are sporadic.

Representative Mike Weisgram says lawmakers need to finish strong with workforce housing bills.

Representative Will Mortenson says the budget will be a priority for him.

Representative Sydney Davis of Burbank says they have some important work left.

Davis says there are separate budgets now in the House and Senate.

The state has hundreds of millions of federal dollars to spend this year. Davis says that is putting extra pressure on.

Representative Richard Vasgaard of Centerville says there are some big issues outstanding.

Vasgaard says there are some serious budget disagreements between the House and Senate.

Vasgaard says all the extra federal money this year is adding to the budget pressure.

Legislators will work two Monday to Thursday weeks then have two weeks off before the 38th and final day on March 28th.
