Legislators question creation of community college in Sioux Falls

PIERRE, S.D. (WNAX) – The creation of a community college in Sioux Falls was questioned by legislators on the Government Operations and Audit Committee this week.

University of South Dakota President Sheila Gestring told the committee of the changes being made at the former University Center.

Carmen Simone is the Executive Director of the new facility.

Senator Justin Cronin of Gettysburg was one of several lawmakers that questioned the changes.

Gestring also unveiled the name of the new college.

Lawmakers asked for more financial details of the soon to start community college.
