Legislators questioning delays in approving loans and grants

YANKTON, S.D. (WNAX) – South Dakota legislators are questioning delays in approving loans and grants from a program using $450 million dollars in federal funds.

Senator-elect Jean Hunhoff of Yankton says Guidehouse, the outside agency handling the applications is struggling to keep up.

Hunhoff says there are gaps between the applicants and the clearing house.

Hunhoff says Congress approving use of the federal funds until the end of this year will give applicants and Guidehouse more time.

The state is paying Guidehouse $6 million to handle the applications.
