Legislature will need to redistrict state following census

TRIPP, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – One of the major issues for the 2021 South Dakota legislature will actually come after they adjourn the session.

Representative Caleb Finck of Tripp says they have to come up with a plan to redistrict the state using the 2020 Census numbers.

Finck says they have to have a plan done by late next year.

Finck says they don’t want to have to hurry the process.

Under the constitution, the state is divided into 35 legislative districts, with one Senator and two Representatives in each district.
