PIERRE, S.D.(KELO)- Money should start flowing from the Legislature’s $200-million dollar infrastructure program in about a month.
While finalizing the program, the Legislature’s Rules committee discovered a snag for the state’s Indian Reservations.
Because they’re sovereign nations, they need a cooperating state or local government entity to apply for the money.
Senator Red Dawn Foster voted against the package, because that locks out the tribal members she represents on the Pine Ridge Reservation.
