Leola resident react to McPherson County Commission rejection of hand counting petition

LEOLA, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- On Tuesday, McPherson County Commission unanimously rejected a petition by residents in the county to put an ordinance in  place to forbid voting machines from counting ballots for future elections.

Leola resident Jodi Waltman was one of them pushing this ordinance. Among those testifying was Rick Weible of Midwest Swamp Watch.  Waltman said the night before he showed them how to do a proper hand counting of ballots.

Another person testifying in favor the petition was Clay Parihkh.  Waltman describe his area of expertise.

Waltman explains one of the reasons the commission rejected the petition.

Waltman talked about another reason which the group disputes is the the issue with electronic voting machines.

Waltman talks about the next step in the process.

Waltman also address the issue of bringing back the topic, but that would be up to the county commission.

For now, electronic machines will be used for the upcoming June Primary.
