Lewis & Clark Regional Water System looking to benefit under President Biden’s budget plans

VERMILLION, S.D.(WNAX)- The budget for fiscal year 2022 released by the Biden Administration includes more funding to continue construction of the Lewis & Clark Regional Water System.

Executive Director Troy Larson says they are at a much higher starting point than previous years.

Larson says the hope is that the tri state Congressional delegation can move that funding up.

Larson says much will be in play until the budget is finalized later this year.

Larson says based on their current funding, over 85% of the project construction will be done this year.

The system provides treated water to towns and cities in South Dakota, Iowa and Minnesota from wells south of Vermillion near the Missouri River.
