HUMBOLDT, S.D. (Press Release) – A Madison, S.D. man has been identified as the person who died in a two-vehicle crash Friday afternoon north of Humboldt.
A 2018 Honda Accord was northbound on South Dakota Highway 19 and was the third vehicle behind a South Dakota Department of Transportation snowplow. The driver of the Honda Accord traveled into the southbound lane in an attempt to pass the two vehicles and the snowplow. It collided with a southbound 2011 Chevy Silverado K3500 pickup.
Michael McKee, 45, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was driving the Honda Accord and was wearing a seatbelt.
Thomas Wolles, 60, of Colton, S.D. was the pickup driver. He received serious non-life threatening injuries and was airlifted to a Sioux Falls hospital. He was not wearing a seatbelt.
South Dakota’s Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash. The Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
The Highway Patrol is part of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
