HURON, S.D. (KOKK) – A man who is a suspect in a shooting Friday night in Huron has been arrested.

An email from the Huron Police Department Sunday states that 20 year old Sa Law Htay is in custody and is charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault against a law enforcement officer.

Htay is the suspected shooter in an incident Friday night at a traffic stop in Huron. When the officer turned on his emergency lights, an occupant from the vehicle being stopped opened fire on the officer.

The police cruiser took rounds from a handgun before the suspect vehicle fled the scene. A short vehicle pursuit ensued, ending near 10th & Lawnridge when the suspect vehicle crashed into a snow bank.

An investigation continues.
