OMAHA, N.E.(KELO)- Inflation is beginning to rise again, and that’s hitting the manufacturing sector of our regional economy.
Creighton University’s Mid-America Manufacturing survey is showing signs of stress, with 45-hundred manufacturing job losses in the region.
The survey covers a nine state region from Minnesota and the Dakotas to Arkansas.
Economist Ernie Goss says South Dakota’s manufacturing job picture is among the hardest hit.
Weak exports were a big part of the problem for South Dakota Manufacturers, with exports sinking by 233-million dollars compared to the same period last year.
That’s a decline of nearly 12 and a half percent.
