PIERRE, S.D. (WNAX) – Voting by mail has become a hot button issue in some states.
While he doesn’t see it happening anytime soon in South Dakota, Secretary of State Steve Barnett says he has had talks with other states on their systems.
Barnett says many people still want to vote at the polling places.
Barnett says mail voting may be useful in more than just rural parts of the state.
Barnett’s office had mailed absentee ballot applications to all registered voters in the state.
The state’s primary election is tomorrow.
