LEOLA, S.D.(Press Release)- Mark Lapka of rural McPherson County has announced his candidacy for the South Dakota Senate in District 23. This district includes Brown, Campbell, Edmunds, Faulk, Hand, McPherson, Potter and Walworth Counties.
“After the last few years of participating in the political process and experiencing disappointment, the only avenue for positive change is to become involved in an elected capacity”, said Lapka.
Lapka is a 5th generation farmer/rancher and a staunch advocate for agriculture. He has worked on the family farm since childhood. Farming and particularly cattle are his passions. His wife, Holly and son, Grady, work the land and cattle alongside Mark. In addition to working on the farm, Holly also coaches and volunteers at the local school.
Property rights, local control, fiscal responsibility, and limited government will be the focus of Lapka’s priorities as state senator. “The value of respecting our fundamental principles of government to maintain our freedom and liberties is something that should not be taken lightly,” said Lapka.
Having a generational connection to the district that he resides in, Lapka has his focus on one thing—the future. “District 23 is one of the best places in the world to call home,” Lapka said. “I would be honored to serve and be a voice for the people in our community. I will work for common sense solutions that will have an impact now, and more importantly for generations to come.”
