Marty Jackley talks about his decision to run for SD Attorney General in 2022

PIERRE, S.D. (AP) – An eye opening political announcement was made Monday when former South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley says he will run again for his old job in 2022.

Jackley’s announcement comes as current Attorney General Jason Ravnsborg faces calls for his resignation and potential impeachment for his involvement in a fatal car crash last September near Highmore.

Because of Ravnsborg’s legal troubles, Jackley says he’s been getting countless phone calls from people encouraging him to get into the race.

Jackley says he misses the job.

Governor Noem has asked Ravnsborg to step down. So have several statewide law enforcement organizations. Jackley was asked if he too thinks it’s time for the attorney general to resign…

Jackley was attorney general from 2009 to 2019, winning reelection twice. He lost a Republican primary battle to Gov. Kristi Noem in 2018.
