Meda Leone Jones was born to Roy T. and Lucille A. (Olson) Jones on May 1, 1930, in Langford, SD, where she was raised and attended country school through eighth grade. Meda graduated from Langford High School in 1948 and continued to the Watertown Beauty Academy, graduating in 1950.
She was united in marriage to Clement Lindgren on August 4, 1952, at the Presbyterian Church in Langford, SD. Two sons were born to this union: Terry and Dennis. The family lived in various towns, including Langford, SD, Aberdeen, SD, Waukesha, WI, and Minneapolis, MN, later returning to Aberdeen in 1974.
Leone owned beauty shops in Langford and Aberdeen. She was dedicated to and proud of her profession and made sure to keep her license current even after retiring in 1961 until time of death. She “earned that and worked to get it, so she chose to keep her license active,” per her words.
In her free time, Leone liked to spend time with her siblings, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed her family and her friends time. Her grandchildren were the light of her eye. Her sons always kept her on her toes with their wildness, which she enjoyed. She always went out of the way for everyone else and formed many special bonds during her time. She always had a smile on her face and was ready to joke. She was also a member of the Eastern Star in Groton, SD.
Meda is survived by her children: Terry Lindgren of wherever the wind may take him, and Dennis (Teresa) Lindgren of Langford, SD; sister, Gwen Krage; two grandchildren, Denee (Lindgren) Daniels of Sturgis, SD, and Dalton (Chloe) Lindgren; five great-grandchildren: Dougie(7), Wade(5), Xander(3), Delilah “DJ” (2), and Zion (1); and many other she considered grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clement; and siblings: three sisters, Sharon, Marilyn, and Faye, and one brother, Tom.
Memorials can be sent to honor Leone to 810 Lawrence St. Belle Fourche, SD 57717, to help with funeral costs and memorials.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the staff at Rolling Hills Healthcare for the care provided to Meda over her final years.
