IPSWICH, S.D.(HubCityRadio) – Dakota Rural Action held a community meeting to increase public awareness around concerns with Riverview’s proposed 25,000 head dairy near Mina Lake in Edmunds County on Monday.

Eisenvos inform the public the Edmunds County Commission have already approved a permit for them.
Concerns were raised at the meeting. Julie Borgad of Mina Lake discussed a few of those. One of them is dealing with how manure could impact the soil in the region.
Another concern is how much water could be needed for this farm.
Burgad also discussed who would be responsible in case problems occurs.

Leona Pitz also from Mina Lake talked about their board’s stance on this project.
Members from Riverview and DANR(Department of Agriculture & Natural Resources) were invited to appear but were unable to attend. The deadline to submit comments about the petition to the DANR is Friday, January 23rd.
