PIERRE, S.D.(WNAX)- The South Dakota House Select Committee on Investigation has recommended that Attorney General Jason Ravnsborg not be impeached in connection with the death of Joe Boever near Highmore in September of 2020.
The vote of the committee was six to two against impeachment.
Committee Vice Chair, Representative Mike Stevens of Yankton, voted for the resolution to not impeach.
Stevens says the facts of the case didn’t fit the requirements for impeachment.
Stevens says their case was a constitutional one.
One of the no votes was from Representative Ryan Cwach of Yankton.
Cwach says the law enforcement testimony contradicted statements made by Ravnsborg.
Cwach says Ravnsborg should have appeared before the committee.
The House will return to Pierre on April 12th to consider the question of impeaching the Attorney General.
