Mid-America region showing below growth for second straight month

OMAHA, N.E.(KJJQ)- The economy in the nine-state Mid America region that includes South Dakota increased slightly in August but is not back in growth mode.

Creighton University Economist Ernie Goss oversees the monthly survey of supply managers.

He says hiring has slowed and the labor market is looking less and less positive.

What does the future hold? Goss predicts a sluggish economy and a global economic downturn.

Goss says inflation is still slightly above the Federal Reserve target and he expects another interest rate hike later this month.
