AMES, I.A.(WNAX)- With the ongoing drought across the northern plains, the next best chance for significant precipitation may be winter snows.
Dennis Todey, head of the Midwest Climate Hub in Ames Iowa, says an impending La Nina may help that.
The Climate Prediction Center has issued a La Nina watch for late this year into next spring.
Todey says the long range outlooks suggest some changes due to the La Nina.
Todey says a snowy winter would probably be welcomed.
The ninety-day outlooks indicate a continued trend of warmer and drier than normal.
