MILLER, S.D.(KOKK)- A special meeting of the Miller City Council was held April 8th with a couple items from the Miller Police Department on the agenda. One was for the hiring of John Butler as an officer with the Miller Police Department who will start later this year. He will be filling the position of officer Chris Hendrickson who retires in June. The other business on the council agenda was to accept the resignation of Wayne Ames from the Miller PD. The vote to accept the resignation was not unanimous.
The vote was 5-1 with alderman Jones voting to not accept the resignation of Wayne Ames. In a call to Miller mayor Tom McGough he said the vote was related to a personnel issue which he was not able to discuss. Wayne Ames had been employed with the Miller Police Department sometime after the 2009 resignation from the Huron Police Department. Ames worked for the Huron Police Department from 1990 to 2009. The information from that resignation is also a part of personnel records for Wayne Ames and not disclosed.
