SIOUX FALLS, S.D.(KELO)- It’s an across the board 7 1/2-percent raise for Minnehaha county elected officials…but not without heated debate.
Commissioner Joe Kippley was critical of Auditor Leah Anderson in the process, and that drew a roomful of supporters for the Auditor.
Kippley says Anderson has undermined confidence in her office.
A week ago, Commissioner Kippley proposed the 7 1/2-percent raise for everyone except Anderson.
That drew a crowd of Anderson’s supporters to the commission meeting.
Kippley tried to explain his position by quoting Ronald Reagan.
After an hour-long discussion the five commissioners voted unanimously to approve raises for all, including Anderson.
