Missouri man facing charges after shooting gun in Pierre hotel

PIERRE, S.D. (DRG News) – A 37-year-old Jefferson City, Mo., man faces charges after shooting a gun in a Pierre hotel early Wednesday morning.

Information from the Pierre Police Department says Central South Dakota Communications dispatch received several reports of a gun shot inside a hotel in the 900 block of W. Sioux Avenue around 4:15 a.m.

When Pierre Police officers arrived, they learned two individuals were previously engaged in a physical altercation. During the altercation, Eric Cole discharged a round into the floor. No one was injured.

Cole is charged with Aggravated Assault, Committing a Felony While Armed with a Firearm, Discharge of a Firearm at a Structure and Reckless Discharge of a Firearm. He was taken to the Hughes County Jail.
