PIERRE, S.D.(DRGNews)- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers says a warm February led to increased snowmelt and runoff in the Missouri River Basin above Sioux City, Iowa.
However, Nicole Sorensen with the Corp’s Missouri River Regulation Team says the 2024 calendar year runoff forecast for the basin continues to be below average.
Sorensen says there currently isn’t much snow left to melt in the upper basin.
Sorensen says more stations have been added to their upper Missouri River Basin monitoring network.
The Corps of Engineers will host its annual spring public meetings next week. The meeting for the Oahe Dam region will be Wednesday at 10am CT at the Casey Tibbs South Dakota Rodeo Center in Fort Pierre.
