BROOKINGS, S.D.(KJJQ)- Missouri River Energy Services is planning a solar power facility at Brookings. They have acquired 80-acres south of the Brookings Regional Landfill for a five megawatt project.
Joni Livinston is Vice President of Member Services and Communications for M-R-E-S.
Nick Fanning is a resource engineer with M-R-E-S.
Fanning says the project will connect to a nearby Brookings Municipal Utilities substation.
They still need to work through any permitting requirements as well as design work. Fanning says they hope to begin dirt work by the fall withthe array operational in 2025. There is room on the 80-acre site for expansion of the solar farm.
They don’t yet have a cost estimate on the project.
