MITCHELL, S.D. (KMIT) – Mitchell’s indoor mask mandate will expire on Jan. 27. The issue was on last night’s Mitchell City Council agenda. The council had voted 5-3 in favor of the mask mandate in November, when there were more than 800 active cases in the county. Davison County currently has just over 100 active cases. Councilman Steve Rice changed his vote last night.
The council vote was a 4-4 tie. Mitchell Mayor Bob Everson (ee-ver-son) cast the tiebreaking vote in favor of letting the mandate expire.
