PIERRE, S.D.(KCCR)- A newly-formed parents group addressed the Pierre School Board Monday night. During the public comment period, Maggie Siedel, chair for the new Moms for Liberty chapter in Hughes County, says the group believes the Pierre School Board does a good job engaging parents in the education of children.
Seidel says relocating families historically look at school districts when making decisions on where to settle.
Seidel referenced the recent South Dakota Department of Education District report card. In it, the Pierre School District shows one in two students are proficient in both math and reading skill.
The Mom for Liberty website shows a Mission statement that the group is “dedicated to fighting for the survival of America by unifying, educating and empowering parents to defend their parental rights at all levels of government”. Seidel told the Board Moms for Liberty is a non-partisan, non-profit group.
