PIERRE, S.D.(KCCR)- The 2022 election is some 11 months away, but state legislators are beginning to think about whether they will seek to try and return to the State Capitol a year from now. Representative Will Mortenson of Pierre says “sign me up!”.
Fellow House member Mike Weisgram of Fort Pierre is also planning to seek a second term.
Senator Mary Duvall of Pierre is leaning toward running for a second term too.
Potential candidates can begin taking out petitions to run for office on January first. They must be returned to the Secretary of State’s office by March 29th. Independent candidates have until April 26th. Next year’s Primary election is June 7th and the General election is November 8th.
