PIERRE, S.D.(WNAX)- Legislators on the interim Joint Appropriations Committee of the South Dakota legislature debated the future of the six state universities at the meeting last week. That came during discussion of the “SB55 Task Force” that is studying the Regents and the administration of the schools.
Representative Steven Haugaard of Sioux Falls questioned the current management of the universities.
Haugaard says the legislature has the ultimate say in the future of the Regents system.
Representative Chris Karr of Sioux Falls says the task force should finish before legislators come up with proposals.
The “SB55 Task Force” is due to wrap up its study and have a report by November first.
