VERMILLION, S.D. (AP) — Police in Vermillion say they have arrested the mother of a 1-year-old boy who died under suspicious circumstances. The 26-year-old woman was arrested Monday night about 9:30 p.m., according to Vermillion police.

Officers had been called to a residence earlier in the day after getting a report of a child who wasn’t breathing. Once on the scene, authorities found the child had died. The cause of death and circumstances leading to the death is under investigation.
