Motorcyclist dies from injuries sustained in crash in Rapid City

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KBHB) — Rapid City Police officials say today that a motorcyclist injured in a pickup-motorcycle crash in Rapid City, later died of his injuries.

According to reports, 19-year-old Joseph Hays of Piedmont sustained serious life-threatening injuries after his motorcycle slammed into the passenger’s side of a truck making a left-hand turn into the parking lot at Marcos Pizza on Mount Rushmore Road.

According to witnesses, Hays had been travelling at a high rate of speed. The crash happened around 9:40 p.m. Friday, and police say that Hays later died of his injuries early Saturday at Monument Health.

A police investigation is under way.
