movie “Sound of Freedom” as springboard to local organization that works against Human Trafficking

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.(KELO)- An independent movie is taking the nation by storm…exceeding all expectations at the box office.

South of Freedom is the story of a former government agent to takes on a personal mission to rescue children from sex traffickers in Colombia.

A local organization, “Call to Freedom”, works to liberate people from human trafficking.

Founder Beck Rasmussen says the movie has generated a lot of questions.

“Call to Freedom”, a Sioux Falls-based ministry that works to set people free from trafficking, says the problem is very real and serious in our area.

Rasmussen says South Dakota has some of the same conditions depicted in the movie that create opportunities for traffickers.

The movie depicts two young children being kidnapped with the lure of a brighter future.

That’s a risk in our area as well…but it doesn’t stop there.

“Call to Freedom” is a Sioux Falls ministry that helps people get free from that form of slavery.

Rasmussen says social media has made local residents targets of traffickers from around the world.

Rasmussen says there’s one segment of the population that is often targeted.
