PIERRE, S.D. (WNAX) – South Dakota legislators used almost all of the last day of the 2020 session to debate and pass most of the emergency legislation requested by the Governor.
Representative Jean Hunhoff of Yankton says Governor Kristi Noem based most of the requested bill on her executive order.
Hunhoff says much of the debate was on wording in several bills.
Hunhoff says she isn’t sure all lawmakers are taking the threat seriously enough.
Out of the 11 bills introduced, two failed. One dealt with authority of the Health Department Secretary and the other would have changed the authority of counties and cities to declare emergencies.
The session wrapped up about 3:40 Tuesday morning.
