Multiple Jackrabbits Headed to NFL

DETROIT, MI (GoJacks.com) — South Dakota State running back Isaiah Davis became the second Jackrabbit taken in the 2024 National Football League Draft when he was selected in the fifth round Saturday afternoon by the New York Jets.

Davis was the 38th pick of the fifth round and the 173rd overall selection.

A native of Joplin, Missouri, Davis earned Co-Missouri Valley Football Conference Offensive Player of the Year honors and was a consensus All-America selection in 2003 after leading the Football Championship Subdivision with 1,578 rushing yards and adding 18 touchdowns on the ground. He finished his career third on the all-time Jackrabbit charts with 4,548 rushing yards and 50 rushing touchdowns.

Earlier in the day, Mason McCormick was a fourth-round pick by the Pittsburgh Steelers. The selections of Davis and McCormick mark the sixth time in SDSU program history that two Jackrabbits were drafted in the same year, and the second time in the last three seasons.

Following the draft, several other Jackrabbit standouts agreed to free agent deals, including: DyShawn Gales (Cleveland Browns), Garret Greenfield (Seattle Seahawks), Zach Heins (Los Angeles Chargers), Jadon Janke (Houston Texans), Jaxon Janke (Houston Texans) and Isaiah Stalbird (New Orleans Saints).
