WATERTOWN, S.D. (KWAT) — This is National Travel and Tourism Week.
South Dakota Tourism Department Public Relations Director Katlyn Richter says this year’s theme is, “Spirit of Travel.”
She says that’s appropriate, given what’s happening in the world.
She says when the tourism industry gets unlocked this summer, a lot of people may choose to travel close to home.
Richter says the Tourism Department has adjusted its marketing plan on the fly.
Last year, South Dakota welcomed 14.5 million visitors, who spent $4.1 billion.
