National Weather Service in Aberdeen hosting Integrated Weather Team meeting

PIERRE, S.D. (KCCR) – The National Weather Service in Aberdeen is hosting its second Integrated Weather Team meeting Wednesday in Aberdeen. Warning Coordination Meteorologist Kelly Serr says the I-W-T brings key players together to improve severe weather messaging and information dissemination.

Serr says while good people are in place across the “Weather Enterprise” across South Dakota, there is always room for improvement.

Serr says this year’s theme focuses on the long lifecycle of a disaster event.

While Wednesday meeting is the second for the Aberdeen office, three Integrated Weather Team conferences have taken place. The first was a statewide meeting involving all three National Weather Service offices and held at the EROS Data Center near Sioux Falls in 2014.
