Nelson leaving politics to protect himself and his family

FULTON, S.D. (WNAX) – District 19 State Senator Stace Nelson of Fulton sent emails out Sunday saying he would be resigning from the legislature as of Dec. 10 and retiring from politics.

Nelson says he enjoyed serving his district.

In his email, he said “it is with regret but relief of having survived South Dakota’s corrupt politics that I will retire permanently and completely from politics.”

Nelson says he is indeed done with elective politics.

Nelson was first elected to the state House in 2010 and the Senate in 2016. Governor Kristi Noem will make an appointment to fill the seat.
