ABERDEEN, S.D.(Press Release) – The Alzheimer’s Association of South Dakota is launching a new support group for caregivers of those living with Alzheimer’s disease or another form of dementia. The support group is meeting for the first time on Thursday, May 9 from 6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at New Life Fellowship in Room 118 (619 8th Avenue NW in Aberdeen). The caregiver support group will be held on the second Thursday of each month. Registration is not required, and the group is open to anyone who has a loved one, family member or friend living with Alzheimer’s or another form of dementia.
Alzheimer’s Association support groups, conducted by trained facilitators, are a safe place for caregivers to develop a support system, exchange practical ideas on challenges and possible solutions, talk through issues and ways of coping, and share feelings, needs and concerns. Those who attend the support group will also learn about community resources and those of the Alzheimer’s Association.
