ABERDEEN, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – On a day when the NCAA Division II canceled all sporting events for the remainder of the calendar year, there was still cause for celebration on the Northern State campus on Thursday afternoon.

Officials dedicated the new Regional Sports Complex, which includes Dacotah Bank Stadium for football, and Koehler Hall of Fame Softball Field.

NSU Athletic Director Josh Moon said the athletes are excited about the opportunity of playing at the new complex.

Moon said the facility will be the finest among all Division II schools in the country.

Aberdeen Mayor Travis Schaunaman knows how important Northern is to the community.

Dacotah Bank President and CEO Joe Senger echoed the same sentiments, pointing out how many of the bank’s current employees are Northern grads.

NSU President Tim Downs noted all of the recent additions on campus from new residence halls to a new science building, which will culminate with the completion of the sports complex.
