YANKTON, S.D. (WNAX) – The switches have been thrown and the pumps turned on. The new Yankton water treatment plant is online.
Environmental Services Director Kyle Goodmanson says they have been running in test mode for several weeks.
Goodmanson says they use a reverse osmosis process for the main filters which provides a number of benefits.
Goodmanson says they can meet water demands as the city grows.
Goodmanson says they have some clean up and landscaping to do this spring. The plant, located on the bank of the Missouri River in Riverside Park, cost almost $34 million.
