RAPID CITY, S.D.(KOTA)- It was perhaps the most fitting possible weather as city officials, including communications coordinator Darrell Shoemaker, introduced the schedule of events for the upcoming 50th anniversary commemoration of the Rapid City Flood.
Those events include a memorial walk in Memorial Park, hosted by the Rapid City Parks and Recreation Department, the Journey Museum hosting a flood remembrance, flood exhibit and speakers, as well as panel discussions from survivors, responders, and journalists who lived through the flood.
Shoemaker shared the theme for the 50th anniversary.
